Poems & Photos
Filmmakers tell stories, what we really do is work with the past.
We are nostalgic people above all, that life to capture pictures, images, photos and eventually revisit the story. So here is an idea of challenge that I had from a dream, I have tried this and by the end of the challenge I ended up making a short film based in images & poems.
Here is how the challenge goes:
My rules - we make the rules / J can make just a mental photo / the poems can be however I want etc
Why poems? As a filmmaker, you might ask: why not just write a logline? Well, poems have rhythm; they are precise and convey emotion with only what is necessary. I want the dialogue in my films to be like that—beyond the ordinary, telling a story with nothing more than what is needed.
Try to make a photo everyday and write a poem about it - or vice versa *and remember, you can make up your own rules
If you are curious about my own experience and some examples you can watch or listen my podcast about it:
If you ever try this challenge remember to give me the credits or even better, let me know how it went for you ;)
